Summer Styling Tips from Chemo Headwear

I think the first thing to consider for summer headwear looks is temperature – keeping cool whilst looking cool! Always choose natural fibres that are wickable (draw moisture away from the body therefore keeping you cool). Definitely no sweaty polyester fabric please. If you want a stretchy comfortable jersey fabric then bamboo jersey in a stretchy modern beanie hat is great under a straw sun hat – Chemo Headwear’s Kitty hat is perfect. If you wear a lot of pretty printed summery tops or dresses then the plain bamboo fabrics in any style are a good choice.

Personally, I think a 100% cotton Liberty tana lawn Alice easy-tie headscarf is the coolest, most lightweight head covering you could get. It’s super soft, comfortable & like wearing a blouse on your head. The elasticated back & ties add interest under a straw hat & almost create the illusion of hair. You just can’t wear a straw hat with no hair to protect your scalp from the scratchy straw. The pretty Liberty prints are gorgeous, really feminine & the softest highest quality cotton which only gets softer & softer with washing. Quite a few of the Liberty prints are on a white background with pretty blues, pinks, greens & reds, many of which are a great choice with denim shorts & a T shirt. A clever print clash can also look great if you can pull it off.

The other thing to consider is adding sunglasses on top of your headscarf or hat; choose big statement earrings & other bright summery accessories along with a pretty summer dress maybe?

I have recently developed a bandanna type scarf with a peak that can be worn with swimwear poolside for a more casual “less chemo” look that will help you shield your eyes from the sun on your hols. It will be called Eliza & available to buy @www.chemoheadwear.co.uk soon or call me on 01798 861501 if you are interested in this style. Think about what colour your swimwear is & coordinate your headwear to match.
